Cow sculpture

The Koeplein (Cow square) adjacent to the old city hall and the Nieuwe Toren (New Tower, dating back to 1664) features a nice statue of the cow, referring to one of the (in)famous legends about Kampen. Centuries ago they wanted to get rid of grass growing at the top of the tower, so they hoisted the mayor's cow up to have her feed on it - killing the poor thing in the process. The gateway in the back of the shot is in the Nieuwe Toren.
